About
the Funboard
About the board....... The funboard / hybrid is named very well.
Any board that is 20" + wide tends to paddle relatively easily
and usually supplies enough outline curve to make the board turn
easily (to factors that would make any board fun to ride !) The
wide nose template also makes easy work of catching waves. The nose
still comes to a point but is a cross someway between a mini mal
and a standard shortboard. The squash tail is also shortboard related
(although a little wider), allowing very positive but predictable
turning.
The longer boards of the Hybrids have longer turning circles, adding
vee as a bottom shape can make the ride even safer and helps to
iron out chop on the wave. The concave bottom is rather less forgiving
but will give you higher performance in more critical conditions.
Most Suitable For... Funboards are probably only second to mini
mals as boards that will basically function in the largest range
of surf conditions; an alrounder if you like. As a result hugely
different surfers find the fun board the perfect solution to their
surfing needs. From surfers making their first step to shortboards
to surfers with firmly established surfing styles. Probably our
most popular design last year, if you surf in England the funboard/hybrid
is hard to ignore.
