About the Fish
A 30 year old concept that has been transformed into modern designs
to the point where only the name remains the same. we now favor
the thruster fin set up as opposed to the old twin fin set-up. Whilst
the twin fin set-up is still legitimately being used, we have found
that the directional stability that the thruster set-up provides
is much better for todays radical surfing.
What you are essentially left with is a very short and round shortboard.
You simply will not find a looser, more easy to turn board. The
easy rail to rail means that the surfer can generate unbelievable
speed even in the most tired of waves.
As with all wide boards, control at high speeds is always forfeited
to some extent. Our fish designs have single or double wingers to
bring the tail blocks in more tightly. This gives a much better
'pivot' point when turning sharply. The extra edges that come with
the wingers also combine rather nicely with concaves and 'off the
rail' channels. Edges simply give you more grip which means you
can bottom turn harder and bash the lip harder. It is probably also
worth mentioning that small boards have an amazing recovery rate.
That is to say that when you are pulling off a manoeuvre, if you
can possibly stay upright (and sometimes even when you can't) the
fish is very likely to stay attached to your feet!
Most Suitable for.... You really need to be a shortboard rider
and not weigh a great deal more than 11 stone ( if you do weigh
more, then check out our retro rocket design). The fish will perform
in a relatively large range of conditions but if you're looking
for small surf performance this board will rule the waves.
