We've been making this design ever since we started in '93 and it remains a popular and relevant shape in our range today. Why? Because, apart from the fact that it's probably the best board in our range as a transition to riding a shortboard, it is also a stand alone design that has great performance in a huge range of conditions.

The design in detail
The Retro Rocket is related to the Stickleback in lots of ways. It is shaped from a shortboard blank and also like the Stickleback it has the entry rocker slightly flattened but the rest of the rocker, bottom shape and fin set up are standard shortboard.
So the idea is that the Rocket is an easy ride shortboard, which is why so many surfers use it as a first step on the way to riding a shortboard. The extra width obviously makes paddling into waves quite easy whilst keeping the board planing and stable even at low speeds.
Once the Rocket gets into some decent surf all the modern manoeuvres are possible, so there is plenty of room for you to develop your surfing ability. In short, the Retro Rocket can take your surfing to the next level.
