Over the last few years Rob Tibbles has done alot for us, whether it be product shots in a studio, water footage or just giving us shots for next to nothing, by next to nothing i actually mean nothing. He has always been pro gulf stream and always willing to help us out in anyway he can.
So I feel I should give something back to him, what better then to fire a few random questions and him on a wet and windy day.....I'm sure he has nothing better to do.....
So Tibs, lets get cracking;
- what got you into photography in the first place? was it the fame, glamour and money?
I LOVE shooting in the water, Its such a challenge just to get in the right place but it's so much fun and unlike anything else. There's something very intimate and elemental ....whoa sorry was going to get all flowery and emotional there.
Lets just say its great fun, except when you get smashed, run over, held down, bounced of boulders, landed on or ripped half a mile out to sea.

That's too tricky to call really. Thanks to my ability to wield a camera I've been lucky enough to experience some amazing events although there is . Sharing the vert ramp with Matt Hoffman was great fun, the Groove Armada shoot in Bris'ol which started as a blag,
Depends, It can be a hard if I'm photographing tall people as up nostril shots aren't the most flattering, so I tend to keep to people of equally limited stature....such as Will and Jools
A dream session would be shooting Cotty towing Peahi and getting XXL ride of the year award. That would be pretty epic and you know the celebrations would be fun. Or for something a little less hectic it would be a bunch of friends on tropical boat trip somewhere getting shacked from dawn to dusk.

Anything with a Nikon badge normally, but whatever camera is in my hand that allows me to take the shot I need at the time, whether its an SLR with 600mm or my phone, as long as I've got something to grab a snap with I feel safe.
I want to encourage anyone passionate about surfing to join 2 organisations that are doing a tremendous amount representing surfing and our interest. So visitwww.surfinggb.com and www.sas.org.uk and get involved. On the photo front if you want to take better pictures, practice, read lots, watch tutorials, maybe go on a course but most importantly shoot more and learn from your mistakes........oh and Smile, it don't cost anything!
